Abstract

The concept of digital citizenship is increasingly being used in a world where technology is increasingly advanced. It also means responsible use of online technology and resources, including social media. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of social media platforms in Promoting the dissemination of digital citizenship culture. Thus, the culture of digital citizenship must be constantly strengthened to make participation, active and sustained, going beyond e-participation, which is commentary, Like and e-participation. It becomes active and responsible citizenship, such as social and civic activities (in formal, informal, and informal settings.

The study sample included 200 social media users who are interested in digital citizenship. The study found that Twitter had the highest effectiveness and interest in presenting as well as discussing topics related to digital citizenship at 56%. Then again, Facebook had 41% effectiveness. On the other hand, YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram showed weak effectiveness in discussing topics related to digital citizenship. Therefore, their role came with poor effectiveness.

Digital citizenship has become part of Internet users' daily lives. Growing importance of promoting a digital citizenship culture among citizens in different societies.
