Abstract

Honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos L.) is an introduced species in Algeria. The present study tests the molluscicidal effect of its saponosides on Arion rufus species, pests causing damage to crops. The calculated foam index value confirms the richness of honey locust pods on saponins. The use of lyophilized saponins as aqueous extract at different concentrations showed that the mortality is proportionally correlated to the used concentrations. The first concentration approximates the Methiocarb effect. G. triacanthos L. saponins as natural product is recommended to fight the A. rufus Slugs.
