Abstract

This paper aims to explore the study on career choice of Management Undergraduate Students in Trincomalee Campus. Selecting one’s career wisely and rightly is a core factor for performance, individual satisfaction and societal wellbeing. Identifying what determines career choice among undergraduates can have many benefits. Therefore, this study aims at exploring the influence of various factors on career choice decision making among Management Undergraduates in Trincomalee Campus. The existing literature in this regard, within the study context, is skeletal, and that this study, having explained about the socio-demographical composition of Management Undergraduates, achieved four research objectives; to assess the level of career choice among Trincomalee Campus Management Undergraduates; to identify the priorities of factors affecting career choices; to assess the influence of such career choice factors on level of career choices among Management Undergraduates in Trincomalee Campus and to establish the correct career choice that develop the social and economic situation of a country. A simple random sampling method is used to select participants for this study. A quantitative approach is used in this study. Accordingly, data are collected using a questionnaire, designed in a Likert’s scale method. This study is limited to students who are in Trincomalee Campus, especially Management Students. In this study, four variables are used to measure the factors influencing on career choice of Management Undergraduates in Trincomalee Campus. To attain the objectives, the quantitative method is used and data are collected through questionnaires. A total of 100 questionnaires are distributed to students who were in Trincomalee Campus. The data are analyzed using statistics. The findings exhibited that, Personal Factors, Social & Technical Factors, Job related Factors and Campus Related Factors influencing on career choice of Management undergraduates in Trincomalee Campus.

This paper fulfills an identified implication guided the authors to recommend strong career development activities by the universities through their curricula and out of curricula activities to create career awareness of the most demanding and prioritized careers while motivating the graduates to accept such available careers.
